So You Want to be a Writer?

Right now, there is a lot of hubub out there that you are able to “just make millions” on writing books & producing audiobooks.

You know what? They are right. It’s possible – but I’m going to give you the disappointing news: its.not.easy. it.takes.work.

These ads would have you believe you can be making thousands right out the gate with very little work. Unfortunately, if you actually want to be a writer, that’s simply not the case.

Writing is work. It’s wonderful, beautiful work. But it is work. It is frustrating at times. It makes you feel like you’re losing your mind. But, when it’s all done, packaged up, and ready to share it with readers, it’s a beautiful experience – something only creatives will understand.

Writing both fiction and nonfiction. Sharing your story with the world is a powerful ability we have, and writing connects us to our reader in such a unique way.

It’s a personal journey. And, the reader becomes a part of it.

So, if you’ve been thinking of being a writer who actually has something to say, something burning inside of them to share with the world – it’s unlikely (though not impossible) that you’ll be making millions or even tens of thousands right out of the gate.

So, what’s in it for you?

That all depends entirely on who you are what drives you to write.

  • Fulfillment
  • Pride
  • Burning, unrelenting passion
  • To explore the worlds locked up inside of you
  • To bring beauty to the world
  • To bring adventure into the world
  • To contribute art to the world.

In the next few weeks, we’ll talk about how you can get started in different kinds of writing, what path might suit you best, and how we can make the best drafts we can make, and my writing/publishing journey.

So, if you want to be a writer, come along with me.
